Nov 4th, 2019 (SSNN)- South Sudan’s main armed opposition movement, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-In-Opposition, (SPLM-IO) in a Gubernatorial Degree has appointed Col. Solomon Pur Gok as Commissioner of Akobo West – one of the counties in Bieh State.

“In exercise of the powers conferred to me by the Chairman and Commander – In – Chief of SPLM/A-IO vide his Decree, No. SPLM / S / G / A005 / 2018 dated July 3rd 2018. I, Simon H . Duol Bol , Governor of Bieh State , do hereby decree the appointment of Col. Solomon Pur Gok as Commissioner of Akobo West County with effect from the date of this decree. Made under my hand this day of Nov 2nd 2019 – Brig . Gen . Simon H. Duol Bol Governor of Bieh State.”

Gov. Simon H. Duol Bol was appointed in July by the Chairman and Commander in Chief of the SPLM-IO, Dr. Riek Machar following the passing on of the late Koang Rambang, former Governor of Opposition’s Bieh State.

The main armed opposition group, the SPLM-IO was formed immediately after the outbreak of violence in 2013 and is one of the main signatories to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS).
