Nov 23rd, 2019 (SSNN)-South Sudanese students studying for government-sponsored scholarships at various universities in Zimbabwe have been expelled and thrown into the cold as higher education institutions demand about $ 2 million in fee arrears.

According to a source familiar with the case, the students are left to roam around at the South Sudanese Embassy in Harare without food and decent accommodation.

“They’re at South Sudan Embassy in Harare with accommodation and feeding out of sight,” the source familiar with the issue disclosed on Saturday.

This is not the first time that South Sudan’s students have been forced to leave university campuses in Zimbabwe over fee arrears.

In June, angry students were seen occupying the South Sudanese Embassy in the Zimbabwean capital Harare to protest the government’s failure to pay their outstanding fees.
