March 24, 2019(SSNN) — Adau Mornyang, a South Sudanese-Australian model, is facing upto 21 years in jail for slapping a United Airline steward and for kicking an air marshal because they couldn’t supply her alcohol during her flight from Melbourne to Los Angeles in January this year.

Although the 24 years-old model has denied the attack claiming that she couldn’t remember the incident which she describes as “an ordeal”, Adau has been found guilty by the US Court and will begin her sentencing in June, 2019.

“According to the evidence presented at trial, several hours into the flight, passengers approached a flight attendant to complain about Mornyang’s disruptive behaviour, which included flailing her arms and yelling obscenities and racial slurs,” it said.

“When the flight attendant approached to assess the situation, Mornyang began to shout at the flight attendant and then slapped him across his face. The flight attendant attempted to restrain Mornyang until federal air marshals could assist.

“The federal air marshals were forced to stay with Mornyang in the rear galley of the plane for the remainder of the flight.” the report continue.

Adau was borned in South Sudan and raised in a refugee camp until the age of 10 when her family moved to Australia.  Seven years later, Adau posted a video on her facebook account claiming that she was raped by two male friends in Australia.

At the age of 17 Adau was known to be drinking alcohol, something that her South Sudanese Dinka culture and Australian laws do not approve.

Her controversial case was later dropped by the Australian Court after evidence that she wanted to use the incident to grow her popularity as an upraising model.

Adau spoke about rape, violence and racial segregation. She believed that her advocacy could inspire many young women to speak out against violence and racism.

Adau has been Miss World Australia Finalist and she recently modelled at New York Fashion Week but 21 years in jail could bring her career to an end.
