July 24, 2020 (SSNN) – South Sudan presidency denied on Friday claims by renowned economist and former National Security Service (NSS) detainee, Peter Biar Ajak, that President Salva Kiir had sent a security team to slaughter him in Kenya.

Peter Biar, who was in Kenya, fled – along with his family – to the US on Thursday and later said on Twitter that President Salva Kiir had sent a “death squad” to Kenya to have him killed and that, he would have been dead if he was not granted safety by the US.

However, Ateny Wek Ateny, President Salva Kiir’s spokesman dismissed the claims by Peter Biar as “nonsense” and said there was no intention from Kiir to have anyone outside the country killed.

“That is complete nonsense. He was here when he was pardoned by the president and allowed to go abroad. He should not associate anything that comes his way with the government of South Sudan,” Ateny Wek Ateny said.

“The government of South Sudan does not attempt, or even need, to kill anybody outside the country,” Ateny added.
