South Sudan Donates One Million US Dollar to AUF and ACDC

May 09, 2020(SSNN) — The Republic of South Sudan approved at least one million US Dollar to be contributed in kind to African Union and Africa Center for Disease Control.

According to Resolution No. 3 on Financial Contribution of the presidency, the Republic of South Sudan will contribute $750, 000.00  to the African Union and $250, 000 USD to the African Center for Disease Control to fight COVID-19, respectively.

“The Presidency has approved the amount of $750, 000.00 as contribution of the Republic of South Sudan to African Union Fund (AUF) to fight COVID-19” Reads part of the May 8th, 2020 resolution.

“The Presidency further approved the amount of $250, 000 as contribution of the Republic of South Sudan to the African Center for Disease Control (Africa CDC)” the report continues;

For years many African countries have neglected their health systems but the outbreak of this Coronavirus pandemic has reminded African leaders of the importance of their health systems;

South African elite politicians have been travelling to Europe for treatment but with this Global Lockdown, the ministers who might have millions of dollar, are locked into a health system they have neglected for years.

Arrangements are made with countries like Kenya to accept their officials for treatment but such arrangements do not happen in time.

At least one former minister and another senior officials have died in Juba within the last few weeks.
