June 10, 2020 (SSNN) – South Sudan’s first vice president and SPLM-IO chairman Dr. Riek Machar Teny has formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the circumstances in which a senior opposition commander was killed last week in Jonglei state.

Last week, Brigadier General Mawich Bol was killed by a group of unknown armed civilians in Fangak county where he was reportedly disarming civilians due to fears of intercommunal fighting.

Details of the killing remain unknown.

In an order dated June 8, 2020, Machar formed a committee headed by SPLA-IO commander General John Both Teny and will include three other members of the main armed opposition group.

“I am hereby constituting an investigation committee to investigate the Juaibor incident which resulted to the death of Brig. Gen. Mawich Dol (Nyagai),” Machar said in the order seen by South Sudan News Now.

The committee will also include Gen. Seiko Ochan, Brig. Gen. Gai Turuk and Captain Piew Ruot who will be the secretary.
