June 25, 2020 (SSNN) – South Sudan female artist, Mary Boyoi Gola, has been harassed by members of the country’s traffic police after a policeman asked Boyoi to pay an amount of SSP10, 000 for alleged violations of traffic police directives, two witnesses told South Sudan News Now.

The first witness who identified himself as Juma said the incident took place at Hai Mauna, a neighborhood in Juba, after the police asked her to get out of the car for past traffic violations.

“The police said Mary had a bad record from the traffic police. They said he had violated directives from the traffic police and they asked her to either ‘come with’ them or pay a fine of 10,000 South Sudanese Pounds,” Juma said this evening.

Another witness said a second policeman came from behind and then grabbed Boyoi by her hair and asked her to immediately disembark from the care before further measures are taken by the police.
