More than 20 high-ranking officers, 200 soldiers abandon SSAF, join NAS faction under Gen Kalid Boutrus
December 27th, 2019 (SSNN)—More than 20 high-ranking commanders and 200 soldiers have reportedly defected from the leadership of the Federal Democratic Party/South Sudan Armed Forces (FDP-SSAF) under Changson Lew Chang and joined the National Salvation Front (NAS)—a splinter faction led by Gen Kalid Boutrus.
After long discussions with the NAS faction, Wilson Dak Wal, a former SSAF representative at the JMCC, said they had agreed to abandon the FDP-SSAF).

“After long discussions with the leadership of the National Salvation Front (NAS) led by Gen Kalid Boutrus —I Brig Gen Wilson Dak Wal and my two Brig Generals plus other high ranking officers NCOs and men (200 soldiers) decide to leave the leadership of the SSAF led by Hon Changson Lew Chang and combine our ranks and file to the wise leadership of Kalid Boutrus. After discussing a number of issues that affect the leadership of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), especially its military [wing], we have come up with clear military structures that will be presented to Hon Josephine Lago the Chairperson of the SSOA currently.”
“Here is the Declaration Document and the list of the forces that defected from the FDP/SSAF in Terkeka assembly area and Gabat plus Majiok that joined NAS led by Gen Kalid Boutrus of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance Alliance (SSOA) a signatory to the peace agreement.”
