May 15, 2019(SSNN) — South Sudan’s General Court Martial, which is currently running trials of Maj. Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang, was again adjourned this morning as more none-material witnesses are expected to come from Mayom to testify.

Among those who were expected to testify today include Brig. Kerbino Deng Thong, the officer who was ordered by Maj. Gen. Mathew Puljang to pursue Gen. Buay in May 2017..

Brig. Gen. Kerbino Deng Thong had no show today and the GCM has been adjourned for one week to allow the officer to arrive and testify.

The officer was subpoenaed to come to Court two weeks ago but after he failed to appear show up again on May 14, the GCM decided to subpoena his commander to send him to Juba with immediate effect.

According to earlier reports, Brig. Gen. Kerbino traveled a distant of approximately 18 kilometers from Mankien(Gen. Puljang Headquarters) to Mayom where the incident occurred.

At least two soldiers were killed and three wounded, all from Gen. Buay’s bodyguards, which according to the defense lawyers, supports the argument that Buay ordered his forces not to fire back and they obeyed.

According to rights advocate, Brig. Kerbino is a none-material witness and he does not qualify to testify after his overall commander, Maj. Gen. Mathew Puljang, who ordered him testified in the same court.
