Lastest: Machar finally arrives in Juba to hold face-to-face meetings with President Kiir

Dec 10th, 2019 (SSNN)-Chairman and Commander-In-Chief of the SPLM-IO Dr. Riek Machar and his accompanying delegation of have finally arrived in the South Sudanese capital, Juba to attend another round of face-to-face meeting between him and South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

The main armed opposition leader, Machar was accompanied by senior Sudanese officials, including Deputy Chairperson of the Sudanese Supreme Council, General Mohamed Hamdan
Dagolo also known as Hemeti.

South Sudan leaders are expected, among other issues, to discuss pending Pre-transitinal Tasks impeding the speedy implementation of the R-ARCSS such as the number of states and their boundaries.

Last week, the South Sudanese government and the main opposition party, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – IO, reached a dead end over the number of states and their boundaries, prompting the government to propose a nationwide referendum by all citizens.

According to an opposition official, the SPLM-IO Chairman Dr. Riek Machar is expected to stay in Juba for three days.

“The Chairman will be in Juba for three days,” the opposition member said in a brief statement.
