Kiir, security chiefs discuss ongoing security situation in the country

January 8th, 2020 (SSNN)—South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the National Security Council, have discussed and reviewed the ongoing security situation across the country, the Presidency said on Wednesday.

“The President of the Republic, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, listened to the National Security Council’s reports from all the security units in the country, at the State House today in Juba,” the state-own media said today.

The statement added that the Inspector General of the South Sudan Police Service, Gen. Majak Akech Malok raised the issue of the recent spill of crude oil in the oil fields.

“After the meeting, the Inspector General of the South Sudan Police, Gen. Majak Akech Malok, said that the meeting discussed security issues in the country and a comprehensive report was submitted by the governors of the Northern Liech and Ruweng regarding the recent spill of oil in the two States.”

According to the Press Unit, the president urged the security chiefs to tackle the wave of insecurity in the country.

“Gen. Majak added that they provided additional enlightenment on the recent visit carried out by the heads of security to different states, adding that the President of the Republic directed all the security units to work in maintaining security in the country.”
