Kiir dismisses Latjor State’s Governor, appoints Gen. Gathoth Gatkuoth

Nov 21st, 2019 (SSNN)-South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit in a presidential degree read out the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) – has dismissed Hon. Elijah Liech Bany as Governor of Latjor State and appointed General Gathoth Gatkuoth as his successor.
General Gathoth Gatkuoth Hothnyang served as Minister of Labour, Public Service and Human Resource Development before he was sacked last August over disagreements between him and the First Vice-president, Taban Deng Gai.
Gen. Gathoth in a letter he wrote to First Vic-president Taban Deng, called on Taban to abdicate the position and and give it someone either from Bahr El-Ghazal or Eastern Nuer (Greater Fangak, Lou Nuer and Jikany).
Gathoth went further, claiming that the First Vic-president , Taban excluded the SPLM-IO officers of Nasser and Maiwut during the integration of the rebel groups into the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF).
