Israeli spy agency training Kiir’s private militia in Warrap – local official
One official told South Sudan News Now (SSNN) that Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, had in February dispatched 23 non-commissioned officers to South Sudan upon the request of president Salva Kiir Mayardit and were deployed to Kuajock before their relocation to a different village outside the state capital.
“There are members of Israeli army training a militia body in Wunrok here in Warrap state. They arrived in here in February and they first were deployed to train new recruit to Mathiang Anyor inside the capital here,” one local official said from Kuajok.
“But due to concerns that they will be spotted, they have been moved to a place called Wunrok and they are training the new recruit there,” the official who refused to be named said.
Israel is a friend of South Sudan’s government and has been providing weapons to the world’s youngest country during the last seven years of war.
Former Israeli military generals have been accused by several human rights watchdog of providing weapons to the government of South Sudan despite the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in July 2018.
