April 8th 2019 (SSNN) – The trial for Gen. Buay Rolnyang, who has been behind bars since May last year, will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, several sources told South Sudan News Now from the capital, Juba.

One source told South Sudan News Now on the condition of anonymity that last week, Gen. Thoi Chany, a deputy chief of defense forces for South Sudan’s army, testified but said he was not in Unity region by the time Buay was arrested and so he knew nothing about what actually had took place prior to Gen. Buay’s arrest.

The same source said Gen. Puljang, a militia commander loyal to the government of President Salva Kiir, and Gen. Manyuat, will both testify to the court.

Puljang was the commander who was responsible for the military operation which let to the arrest of Gen. Buay Rolnyang in May last year in Mayom county.

“In the previous sitting last Thursday, Lt. Gen. Thoi Chany Reat testified as a witness. He said he had no idea since he was not officially in the system,” the source said.

“Tomorrow Maj.Gen. Mathew Puljang and Manyuat are expected to come to testify. Puljang is the one who made issues up against Buay, so he may have a lot to say,” the source added.
