Gen. Buay praises Kiir following his dismissal from military service
Nov 28th, 2019 (SSNN)-South Sudan’s ex-army commander, Stephen Buay Rolnyang has expressed his appreciation to South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit a day after he was demoted and dismissed from the military service by the country’s military court.
According to a letter addressed to the President, the former high-ranking officer, Buay praised Kiir for confirming the General Court Martial’s final ruling.
“Dear Mr. President, thank you very much for confirming the verdict that was passed on me by the General court Martial (GCM) on 12 June 2019, that was announced on 21/10/2019 at General court martial and Bilpam (SSPDF HQS) on 27/11/2019, and for releasing me to join my family after languishing in jail for the past 546 days,” Buay lauded President Kiir.
The former senior commander commended President Salva Kiir for his efforts in facilitating his release from the long term detention.
He also stressed that he would be committed and remain an ordinary citizen and serve his community and the country as a whole at different levels other than military service.
“Mr. President, though demoted and dismissed from the SSPDF service, still I will remain a humble and loyal citizen to your kind leadership and be able to serve our nation in other fields rather than the army.”
He applauded all SSPDF forces previously under his control for their dedication to serving the country and defending it from external threats.
“Finally, I would like to thank all the SPDF forces, especially, the men and women in uniform in the units that I was commanding for their gallantry in defending the nation. Thank you very much Mr. President,” he said.
