Dr. Martin Elia finally sheds light on the creation of 32 states

Oct 11th, 2019 (SSNN) -The establishment of the Government’s controversial states was a counter move to outvie 21 states proposed by the SPLM-IO, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro has finally disclosed.
“Twenty-one states were brought about by the IO. We countered the move with 28 states and later on 32 states,” Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro told international dignitaries in the capital Juba.
In 2015, South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit dissolved 10 historic regional states and unilaterally created 32 states, a move criticized by opposition groups and the international community.
Initially, before the Government of South Sudan took a decision to increase the number of states, the opposition group, SPLM /A had proposed 21 federal states, divided according to the old federal boundaries set by the British colonial administration.
