June 9th, 2019(SSNN) — The government of China People’s Republic has the blood of many South Sudanese on its hands. China is edging ever closer to ethical and legal fallout by continuing to supply weapons to South Sudan regime in Juba through ‘PowerChina ‘ a private Chinese own company that has been contracted by Chinese arms deal companies to purchase weapons on behave of South Sudan, PowerChina is registered under the disguised of providing cheap electricity to Juba residents when it actual work is to cover up what many South Sudanese might not know. The company shifted 24 containers full of weapons through the port of Dar es Salaam on Thursday destine for Juba.

These weapons which have been proven to emanate from China manufacturers are going to be use in the war on South Sudan. This conflict that has been raging for years  was spearheaded by China oil companies in 2013, has resulted in mass civilian casualties and a humanitarian disaster, which has been labelled by some news agencies as the worst of its kind in recent history.

This puts China and the ruling Communist Party in an ethical and legal quagmire, making it potentially complicit in war crimes.

PowerChina top officials in Juba first lifted the lid on China involvement in weapons supplied to the South Sudanese government on Friday after The UN Secret agents visit the compound after several follows up. report on Thursday which was cited by the Tanzanian publications, revealed that arms, ammunition, armoured vehicles, as well as surveillance and military technology had been supplied to South Sudan government.

More damning evidence came to light following news footage which, unknowingly, exposed China involvement. Footage broadcast by Tanzan news showed a South Sudanese security agent discussing the clearance documents with a Tanzanian Port Authority official.

China North Industries Group Corporation (NORINCO) China state owned weapons manufacturer, was approached by South Sudanese officials in April with an offer to work on an armed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) programme. According to the CGTN report, which was penned by journalist Edward Korona, NORINCO agreed to work on the controversial programme:

“NORINCO adapted the Seeker 400 with a range of 160 miles and an endurance of 16 hours to carry the CHI-YU air-to-ground missile and the Impi laser-guided missile, which has a multipurpose warhead suited for assassination missions.”

Later that same month, President Salva Kiir Security advisor accompanied Chinese arms company to the unveiling of NORINCO Military Industries Corporation facility in Beijing . This factory of war was built in conjunction with Li NORINCO group.

While these developments are worrying, they are in no way new. ChinaIntel , China premier defence and security news publication, reported that between February and April NORINCO supplied an estimated 612 armoured mortar carriers to South Sudan.

Recent reports, covered by lnternational publication, The CGTN , revealed that South Sudan Military officials from the Defense Ministry attended the 8th edition of the China Aerospace and Defence (CAD) exhibition in Beijing. Col. Mijak Deng confirmed that he was looking to procure further armaments from China.

David Schemer  IAAS CEO and geopolitics expert, states that China is currently facing an ethical question with regards to the further supply of weapons, which can potentially yield massive financial gains for the country, but at the same time has the propensity to put more blood on government’s hands:

“South Sudan is one of the largest arms markets in Africa . They are huge importers of arms. While one can make the argument that you should only sell arms to good countries, the reality is that people who need arms the most are not the good ones.”

Yang Chen, spokesperson for NORINCO confirmed that the company would be willing to work with countries that “we enjoy good diplomatic relations with, and we are allowed to sell to by our national conventional arms control committee”, saying:

“I understand NORINCO is state-owned, hence suggests that the two countries would lead in such talks.”

David Schemer added that South Sudan have a dubious reputation regarding tribal terrorism and human rights violations.

“Remember, Salva Kiir was born in Bahr El Ghazal and much of the illegal training of private militias in the region has been attached to him. We have seen in the DRC Congo conflict which has spread across the region was directly or indirectly funded by or originated in China.”

President Salva Kiir recent visit to the Middle East

As part of his foreign investment drive,he recently visited the UAE – securing $625 million in loans for local development which was petitously a fallacy of double standard. Commenting on his successful visit to UAE.

“I am delighted to have come here, because this forms a very firm foundation for our relationship. We are here to form a strong relationship between South Sudan and UAE and a bridge of partnership.”

Accompanying on his trip to the Middle East was the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation along with government representatives of the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs.

This delegation, and comments made by the president after securing millions of dollars in investments seems to coincide with China willingness to trade arms with oils in South Sudan but Juba regime prefer loans from Arabs rich nations.

The conflict in South Sudan has its roots in the failure of a political transition supposed to bring stability to South Sudan following a successful succession from Sudan. The war, which has been raging for over five years, revolves around geo-political control and involves China and the Arabs States providing liquid cash to Juba as well as other Asian States.
