June 12, 2020 (SSNN) – The British ambassador to South Sudan, Christopher Trott, has met the country’s minister of Defense Angelina Teny following her return to office this week after more than two weeks of quarantine.

Mrs. Teny went to the quarantine in mid May after she and her husband – who is also the First Vice President – Dr. Riek Machar Teny, tested positive for COVID-19. A number of body guards belonging to the senior government officials also tested positive for the virus.

In a tweet yesterday Thursday, Trott said he had visited the minister of defense and discussed the implementation of the country’s 2018 revitalized peace agreement which has seen setbacks over deadlock on states government in recent months.

“It was a pleasure to meet the Minister of Defense yesterday,” Trott wrote.

“Had a wide ranging discussion about implementation of peace process & rising levels of violence across the country. Also talked about ensuring the RTGNU meets 35% target of women,” he further said.
