BREAKING: Kiir sacks presidential affairs minister

June 2, 2020 (SSNN)Ā ā€“ South Sudan’s president, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has sacked the country’s minister for presidential affairs, Mayiik Ayii Deng, replacing him with a former former foreign minister.

The decree which did not give reasons for Ayii’s removal was read out on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC).

In a separate decree, the president appointed former Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nhial Deng Nhial who for the most recent time served a senior presidential advisor.

In a separate decree, Kiir also sacked the deputy Executive Director of Administration and Finance in the office of the president Gabriel Bol Deng. A replacement was not immediately named.
