BREAKING: Ex-deputy governor of Yei dies COVID-19
May 15, 2020 (SSNN) – Former deputy governor of South Sudan’s defunct Yei River state has died this morning with coronavirus, sources at Dr. John Garang Infectious Diseases Center have said.
Yousta Baba Dima died after contracting the disease last week and was referred to Dr. John Garang Infectious Diseases Center after having been treated at a private hospital in Juba for almost the whole week.
“This morning, the former deputy governor of Yei River state died of coronavirus. He tested positive for the virus last week and was being treated at a private clinic until when his situation got worse yesterday and then he was taken to Dr. John Garang Infectious Diseases Center,” a government official close to him said from Juba.
“He died at Dr. John Garang Infectious Diseases Center this morning,” the source added.
His demise comes two days after a senior army commander died of the virus. General Madeng Gatduel, a logistics officer at the SSPDF headquarters in Bilpam died at the military hospital in Juba on Wednesday after contracting the virus.
